Urinary Incontinence

Although not often discussed, a large number of women will experience symptoms of urinary incontinence.  This can range from a small amount of dribbling urine with laughter to the urgency of finding a restroom.  Risk factors for urinary incontinence include vaginal childbirth and chronic constipation.

There are three basic types of urinary incontinence: stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and mixed incontinence. Through a thorough history and examination, the physician can pinpoint the type of incontinence and devise a treatment plan. Treatment will be based upon his or her findings and could range from medication taken daily to surgery.

Discuss the symptoms you are experiencing with your physician to allow you to live your life with confidence and comfort.
